McPalin vs. OBiden
McPalin vs. OBiden

And the gloves are off!!

What I've come to learn about this election, all elections, and the issues affecting us Americans is that everything is related.  Every issue is interwined.  If you give money here, you take it from there.  If you help a particular group you risk abandoning the other.

--

Running for president and accepting the job is the most terrifying thought I could ever imagine.  We've said it before, but really, who wants this job?  Is it a matter of power, just to say you did, or is it a matter of true change?  Or continuation?  In no way can every demographic, every group, or every person in this country be satisfied with the one person in power.

Somehow, in some wierd, strange, derranged way, these presidential candidates who are absolute polar opposites managed to equal out the playing field.  The "same old" white, crusty veteran nominated a young, spunky female with experience, but little, and no one knows much about her.  The new age, young, multi-racial cool dude that no one knew much about picked an old crusty white guy.  The lines are skewed.  We went from two defined demographics to "what the...?"

The great part...  If initially you were only supporting democrats on the basis or race or gender, or supporting the republicans for age and experience, you're now going to have to reevaluate your own values to see what's more important, and most important.  Happy voting!  It's gonna be one hell of a race to the top... or the bottom.

STABALIZE IT

SIMPLIFY: Quite an ironic name for such a pseudo simplicity! Love it. I am third party all the way. My vote was for Ron Paul, but now he's not an option, and I'm not going to write him in. I don't know too much about Nadar or Baldwin... and it sucks that they aren't all over the news as well. I have to go dig for information on someone running for president. Not cool.

I will say that I wouldn't vote for third party for third party's sake. Though its a good one. I will vote with who I identify with the most. And I don't identify with OBiden or McPalin much. I agree and disagree strongly on some issues, but I have not found balance in either.

Strong point you make about the "S" word. We all own this problem. Can I sell my share?

The S Word
September 23rd - 2:28 am
Tanya, I am assuming by the "S" word, you might mean socialist?

What do you call it when central governments nationalize major corporations for the sake of "stability"?

It sounds like classic European socialism to me.

It also sounds like our current administration, who are spending untold billions of dollars to keep our corrupt financial corporations from going under. Hundreds of billions of dollars, at least. And now we, you and I, officially own Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG! Whooppeeee!

But you're right. It's the librals.

so rita, the standard two party system doesn't exist anymore, and yet voting outside of the two parties corrupts the election?

do you think narrowing down a population of three hundred million people (300,000,000) to a choice between 2 presidents makes the most sense?

you ultimately must end up with candidates that appeal to huge masses of people and contributors, and between two people you can be sure that plenty of promises have already been made by the time they are officially chosen to lead their parties. that's good for people with access to them, but not so much for the rest of us.

Lovely Rita-2 party system

First let me say, I love the Obiden & McPalin thing. Very clever.

Second I agree with you on how our parties have shifted. I was just having that same conversation the other day with someone. Republicans now resemble Dems and that would put Dems where? Do I dare say it? The "S" word and I think you know what I'm talking about!

P.S. The irony of my conversation with that person who happens to be a liberal Democrat is that THEY agreed with me on that last part...wow!

Hi RitA!
September 12th - 2:22 pm
I agree with you the jab made at Palin was unnecessary. She was just making a cute comment to her audience, and Obama- I think a little out of disparity- took the opportunity to make a viscious attack.

I recently have been leaning more conservative, and I began more liberal. I'm still in the gray area (or the purple), but I do think that our nation is continuing to turn more left than right, and either way we go, we need balance, so I always hope to hear strong supporters on both sides. Thank you for the comment! hope to hear from you soon!

I don't think the standard 2 party system exists anymore. One must match their own values with the candidate. Everything has shifted left..even the republicans. That leaves room for more diversity. (You see diversity doesn't just apply to race) However, voting outside of the 2 parties is not a solution at this time. A vote for an independent will corrupt the election. For now, we have 2 choices. the obidens and the mcpalins..I will vote for patriotism, experience, diversity, intelligence, change, forsight, integrity, and consistency measured against core values. I will vote for the candidates of change...mccain and palin. Go Pit Bulls

PS Obama's double entendre about pigs and lipstick didn't play out as he expected. He can plead mea culpa but the whole wide world knew where the jab was directed. Nice try. Time to start sticking to the issues rather than comedy.
